This is a x86_64 .deb package for gstreamer-vaapi version 0.25 source code was downloaded from the Splitted-Desktop website on June 8th 2011. This package should work on any x86_64 (64bit) version of Ubuntu or other Debian based distributions.
I have statically linked the libva library into it. So it should be independent of libva1, although it needs a va-api backend, like vdpau-video for nVidia GPU hardware or xbva-video for AMD GPU hardware, provided by Splitted-Desktop.
I have tested it for nVidia hardware only. However, according to /usr/share/doc/vdpau-video/README, vdpau-video has support for MPEG4, but no other codec at the moment. It does not seem to accelerate H264 content on my computer.
The xbva-video driver for AMD hardware from Splitted-Desktop claims to accelerate MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) and Windows Media Video 9 Advanced (VC-1 Advanced profile).
